Great Eastern Hotel, serving proudly
Built over 150 years ago, Great Eastern Hotel has played host to lords, barons and foreign dignitaries, as also toRajahs and Nawabs during the British Raj. Perhaps no other hotel in India evokes so much nostalgia as this one.
This hotel, the oldest in Kolkata, wears the feather of having hosted Mark Twain proudly in its slightly faded cap. The Raj hangover is still in evidence here, and you might feel like you're taking a walk back in inside this hotel. The hotel offers Indian, Chinese, European and Mughlai cuisine and also has a coffee and pastry shop.
